October 2026 Ambience

October 2026 Ambience

What I mostly listened to in October, ranked by numbers of plays (per Plexamp).

  1. 16bard - Αἰθήρ. Wonderfully weird and out there.
  2. Trá Pháidín - Cloch 's Claí. Irish traditional(?) mixed with post rock, mariachi music and healthy doses of experimentation/electronics.
  3. Various Artists - HARSH YOGA. Still wrapping my head around this. It is massive and the styles vary in the best ways possible. In the electronics, ambient, experimental camp.
  4. Cabaret Voltaire - But What Time Is It Really?. A live document of this seminal band from 2025 that demonstrates how vital and relevant they still are.
  5. Ferries - Eye Wander. Retro futuristic indie dub krautrock mixed with equal parts 1960s psychedelia and general weirdness.
  6. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon. No comment needed. Note: I very much enjoy this album but it is mostly on the list because this is the album I test amps/receivers with.
  7. Various Artists - [VA #45] – HUMAN MAINTENANCE. See comment about Harsh Yoga. The label this is on, Camembert Électrique is releasing inventive/boundary pushing experimental music that is more than worth your time. Additionally, the releases are pay what you want.
  8. Mordant Music - Dead Air. Hauntalogy and what can only be described as post IDM come together to form something that stands alone. I have no idea how I missed this when it came out in 2006. More than holds up today.
  9. Emily A. Sprague - Cyano. More refined ambience with a nod toward Japanese ambient music. Essential.
  10. Amon Düül II - Yeti. Kraurock freak outs from these hippie weirdos (in the most endearing way possible)
